ENCOUNTERS WITH MUSIC & CULTURE XX-th MOZART FESTIVAL JUNE 15th – JULY 26th 2010 PROGRAMME: DAY 1st WARSAW Arrival in Warsaw airport. Meeting with a guide-interpreter who will assist your group for all stay in Poland. Transfer to hotel. Accommodation and dinner. Evening in Warsaw Chamber Opera. Transfer to hotel and overnight. DAY 2nd WARSAW Breakfast in hotel. In the morning guided sightseeing tour of Warsaw including: Old Town – lovingly restored after the war devastation; visit to St.John Basilica; see documentary movie at Historical Museum- “Warsaw remains”; visit of Royal Castle. Lunch in local restaurant. In the afternoon drive to £azienki 18th century park and palace – beautiful complex. Late afternoon time at leisure. Evening in Warsaw Chamber Opera. Transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight. DAY 3rd WARSAW After breakfast excursion to ¯elazowa Wola – visit of charming old Polish manor – the birthplace of the composer and national hero Frederic Chopin – now the house is a museum contained a collection of family portraits and other Chopin memorabilia, including music manuscript; private piano recital in the concert room. Afterwards continue to Brochów – a typical Mazovian village with a Renaissance basilica erected in 16th century the place of Chopin’s parents wedding and his baptism. Lunch in local restaurant. Return to Warsaw. Evening in Warsaw Chamber Opera. Transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight. DAY 4th WARSAW - CRACOW Departure for Cracow early in the morning by Intercity Express train. After arrival in Cracow – the Royal City; meet with the local guide, transfer by coach to The Wawel Castel – the former residence of Polish Kings – with a splendid collection of tapestries. Visit the Wawel Cathedral- housing the tomb of St.Stanislaw- the patron of Poland and the Polish monarch’s burial place. Lunch in local restaurant. Afterwards walk to the Market Square: visit to St.Mary’s Church with the famous wooden altar by Wit Stwosz; the 14th century Cloth Hall – now a place for shopping (souvenirs and crafts). Afternoon short visit to Kazimierz – the former Jewish district – see the Remuh Synagogue with the adjoining Renaissance cementery. Dinner in typical restaurant. Overnight in hotel in Cracow . DAY 5th CRACOW - WARSAW After breakfast excursion to Wieliczka Salt Mine ( 700 years) a world-class tourist attraction – you can see up to 20 excavated chambers on 3 levels – full of beautiful statues sculpted from salt. Return to Cracow to railway station for Intercity train to Warsaw. Instead of Wieliczka you can continue a sightseeing of Cracow including the Czartoryski Museum- big collections gathered by some of the most eminent Polish families. The most important treasures of this collection are the “Lady with an Ermine” by Leonardo da Vinci and the “Good Samaritan” by Rembrandt. Lunch in local restaurant. Afterwards time at leisure at the Market Square and time for shopping. After arrival to Warsaw transfer to hotel for a short rest. Evening in Warsaw Chamber Opera. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
DAY 6th WARSAW After breakfast visit to Wilanów Palace – inside visit to its impressive interiors with splendid collection of paintings, china, stucco works, frescoes and furniture. Lunch in local restaurant. Afternoon for leisure. Evening in Warsaw Chamber Opera. Farewell dinner in restaurant. Transfer to hotel and overnight.
